Where We Work · 25 pages

AI engineering
across Europe.

We are a single team in Barcelona. We are not a network of offices, and these pages do not pretend otherwise — what they do is set out what is actually different about building an AI system in each of these cities, because the regulator, the nearest cloud region and the industries around you change the architecture more than the postcode does.

Introduction transcript. Client: Do you have an office in every city? Qubi: Just one team, right here in Barcelona. Qubi: Different cities bring different regulations, cloud regions, and industries. Client: So the place changes the design? Qubi: The constraints do. We pay attention to those. Qubi: Pick a city. Let’s see what’s different.

At a glance

One office, in Barcelona.

01 Where we are
We have one office, in Barcelona, and everything on these pages is written from there. We are not a local partner who can be in your building on an hour’s notice.
02 How we work
A small senior team that travels for the parts that benefit from a room and a whiteboard, and otherwise works remotely in a timezone that overlaps yours for a full working day.
03 What differs
The supervising authority, the nearest cloud region, the dominant industries, and where the local legal regime departs from the EU baseline — in the UK and Switzerland it substantially does.
04 Your city
If your city is not listed, it is an omission rather than a boundary. Ask us.
WHAT A CITY PAGE IS AND IS NOT

Sales geography, it is not.

Each city page carries the things that really do differ by location and really do change what we build: which authority supervises your data protection, which cloud regions are close enough to matter for latency and residency, what the dominant industries mean for the kind of AI problem that turns up, and where the local legal regime departs from the EU baseline.

What we are is a small senior team that works across Europe, travels for the parts that genuinely benefit from a room and a whiteboard, and otherwise works remotely in a timezone that overlaps yours for a full working day. For most engagements that is the honest shape of it.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY DIFFERENT

What is actually different in each city.

Four things change the architecture more than the postcode does. Each row is what this page states, or where the city page takes it up.

  1. Which authority supervises your data protection. A bank in Frankfurt has DORA and BaFin in the room.

    Stated on this page
  2. The nearest cloud region

Which cloud regions are close enough to matter for latency and residency. The city page names them.

Set out on the city page
  3. The dominant industries

What those industries mean for the kind of AI problem that turns up. The city page sets it out.

Set out on the city page
  4. In the UK and Switzerland the local regime substantially departs from the EU baseline. A bank in Zurich sits under Swiss law rather than the GDPR.

    Departs from the EU baseline
  5. In London it is UK GDPR and an adequacy decision that gets reviewed.

Rows that say the city page sets it out are not repeated here. The city page is where the detail for that city lives.

Questions

What people ask about working across Europe.

Do you have an office in my city?

No. We have one office, in Barcelona, and every one of these pages says so. A studio claiming twenty European offices with a team our size would be describing a virtual mailbox, and you would find that out eventually.

Then why have a page for my city at all?

Because the answer to ‘can you build this’ genuinely changes by location. A bank in Frankfurt has DORA and BaFin in the room; the same system for a bank in Zurich sits under Swiss law rather than the GDPR; in London it is UK GDPR and an adequacy decision that gets reviewed. Those are architecture decisions, not marketing, and it is quicker to write them down once per city than to explain them on every first call.

Will you travel?

Yes, for the parts where it pays: discovery workshops, the session where a system is handed to the team who will run it, and anything where the real constraint only comes out when someone walks you through the process. We do not bill travel theatre — if a video call does the job, we will say so.

What language will we work in?

English, Spanish or Catalan directly. Elsewhere in Europe we work in English, which for most engineering and product teams is already the working language. Technical documentation and code are delivered in English by industry convention regardless.
