Automotive AI,
off the test track.

In context

AI in automotive is not only autonomous driving. For most businesses in the sector it means agents that answer and book customers in a dealership, models that plan fleet maintenance from telematics, and systems that assemble homologation documents. Safety, finance and approval decisions stay with people.

Where it breaks today

01

Leads wait, phones ring out

Dealers receive enquiries from their website, marketplaces and manufacturer portals at all hours, and the service desk answers the same booking and status questions all day. Slow responses lose sales; rushed ones lose trust.
02

Fleet data, unused

Telematics platforms report fault codes, mileage and driver behaviour continuously. Turning that into a maintenance plan and a list of vehicles that should come off the road this week is still a spreadsheet job.
03

Type approval is a document mountain

A whole-vehicle type approval under Regulation (EU) 2018/858 brings an information document, test reports for dozens of UN regulations and conformity-of-production evidence. A design change ripples through all of it.
OUR APPROACH

AI in the automotive industry, beyond the vehicle

The automotive AI that gets written about is inside the car: driver assistance, autonomy, software-defined vehicles. That is safety-critical engineering under ISO 26262 and the type-approval regime, and it is not what we build. We work on the business around the car, where most of the sector’s people actually spend their day.

That means connecting to the systems the sector runs on: dealer management systems such as CDK, Reynolds and Reynolds, Keyloop or Pinewood, CRMs such as VinSolutions or Salesforce Automotive Cloud, telematics from Samsara, Geotab or Webfleet, and the eQMS and PLM where homologation evidence lives. An agent that cannot see the service diary or the vehicle’s history is a chatbot, and the integration is usually most of the build.

We are firm about three lines. An agent does not tell a customer a vehicle is safe to drive. It does not quote or decide finance, which is regulated consumer credit in the UK and EU. And it does not discipline a driver: AI used to monitor and evaluate workers is high-risk under the EU AI Act, and decisions about people stay with people.

HOW IT DEPLOYS
PHASE 01

Map one journey

A sales lead, a service visit, a fleet defect or an approval change, followed end to end through the systems that hold it.
PHASE 02

Connect the system of record

The agent or document pipeline reads from and writes to your DMS, telematics or eQMS, so nothing lives in a side tool.
PHASE 03

Hand over at the line

Safety, finance, people and approval decisions are routed to the right person with the context attached, every time.

What we build

01

Dealer and aftersales agents

Agents that answer enquiries, qualify leads and book service against the real workshop diary, around the clock, and hand over to sales, service or finance staff.

SEE DEALER AGENTS →
02

Fleet operations

Maintenance planning, defect triage and compliance checks built on your telematics and workshop data, with a fleet manager deciding what comes off the road.

SEE FLEET OPERATIONS →
03

Homologation documents

Information documents and test evidence assembled and cross-checked against the applicable UN and EU regulations, with change impact traced across the file.

SEE HOMOLOGATION →
04

Repair knowledge for technicians

Search across service bulletins, repair manuals and past job cards, so a technician gets cited answers for a fault code rather than a forum thread.

Questions

Questions about Automotive & Mobility.

How is AI used in the automotive industry?

Inside the vehicle, for driver assistance, autonomy and voice assistants. In factories, for visual inspection and predictive maintenance. And across the business, for dealer sales and service agents, fleet maintenance planning, repair knowledge search and regulatory documentation. The last group is where most automotive businesses can use AI now, without the safety case that in-vehicle systems need.

How can car dealerships use AI?

Mostly for the conversations and admin around a sale or service visit: answering enquiries out of hours, qualifying leads, booking service against the real workshop diary, sending status updates and chasing unsold quotes. The useful systems are connected to the dealer management system and CRM, and hand over to staff for negotiation, finance and anything touching vehicle safety.

What is the best AI for automotive repair?

For a workshop, the most useful AI is usually a search system over your own sources: manufacturer service bulletins, repair information, wiring diagrams and your past job cards, answering in plain language with citations. General chat assistants can be confidently wrong about a specific model and year. The technician still diagnoses and signs off the repair.

Does the EU AI Act affect automotive businesses?

Yes, in different ways. Customer-facing agents must make clear they are automated. Systems that monitor or evaluate workers, such as driver scoring used for performance decisions, fall into the high-risk category. AI built into vehicles is largely handled through the vehicle type-approval framework. Which category your system falls into is your determination; we design for the stricter reading.

Do you build autonomous driving or ADAS software?

No. Driver assistance and automated driving are safety-critical systems developed under ISO 26262 and the type-approval regime, with validation programmes far beyond what a small studio should take on. We build the business systems around vehicles: dealer and aftersales agents, fleet operations and documentation, and we say so plainly.
