Dental AI
for the front desk.

Booking, recall, plans, billing. The dentist diagnoses.

In context

Dental AI, as we build it, runs the administrative side of a practice or private clinic: booking and recall, explaining a treatment plan the dentist has already written, and the insurance and billing paperwork. Diagnosis stays with the clinician.

Where it breaks today

01

The phone rings during treatment

A small practice has one or two people on reception, and they are also checking patients in, taking payments and chasing labs. Calls at lunch and after hours go to voicemail, and some of those callers book elsewhere.
02

Recall lists go stale

Patients due a check-up or hygiene visit sit in a report nobody has time to work through. Empty chair time later in the year is often a recall list that was never called.
03

Plans are explained once, in the chair

A patient hears the treatment plan with a numb mouth, goes home with a printed estimate and a lot of questions, and nobody is free to answer them before they decide.
OUR APPROACH

The administrative layer, not the radiograph

A lot of what is called AI in dentistry is clinical: software that reads radiographs and flags caries or bone loss, or that designs crowns from an intraoral scan. Those products are medical devices, cleared by the FDA in the US or CE-marked under the EU Medical Device Regulation 2017/745, and they sit in the clinician's workflow. We do not build diagnostic software.

We build the layer around it, which is where most practices actually lose time: an AI dental receptionist that books against real availability, recall that works the list instead of printing it, plain-language explainers of a plan the dentist has signed, and insurance verification and claim preparation. Every one of them reads and writes through the practice management system, and every one hands anything clinical to a person.

HOW IT DEPLOYS
PHASE 01

Connect the PMS

Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Dentally, Software of Excellence or Gesden: availability, recall dates and plans come from it, and every action is written back to it.
PHASE 02

Write the practice rules

Appointment lengths, which clinician sees what, cancellation policy, what reception may and may not say. The rules are the product; we write them down with your team.
PHASE 03

Run alongside reception

It starts on out-of-hours and overflow, with the team reviewing transcripts, before it takes daytime volume.

What we build

01

Booking and recall

Calls, messages and web bookings handled against the live diary, with recall and appointment reminders that offer a slot rather than asking the patient to ring back.

SEE BOOKING AND RECALL →
02

Treatment plan explainers

Patient education built from the plan the dentist wrote: what each item is, why it was recommended, the options discussed and the estimate, in plain language.

SEE TREATMENT PLAN EXPLAINERS →
03

Billing and insurance admin

Eligibility checks, claim preparation and follow-up on rejected claims, with a person approving what is submitted.

04

Voice and messaging agents

The same practice rules answered by phone, SMS, WhatsApp or web chat, with the patient told in the first exchange that it is an automated service.

Controls we implement

These are engineering controls we build into the architecture, not certifications. QQuantum.ai holds no security certifications, and the data-protection assessments your practice requires remain yours to run — see our GDPR notes.

    Booking & Recall

Appointment reminders, recall and an AI dental receptionist that book against the live diary and write back to the PMS. Pain, swelling or trauma goes straight to the practice team.

    Treatment Plan Explainers

Plain-language patient education built only from the treatment plan the dentist signed and an approved library. It explains options and estimates; it never recommends or gives clinical opinion.

    Billing & Insurance Admin

Insurance verification, claim preparation and rejection follow-up for dental practices and clinics. Codes are checked against the notes, never optimised, and a person approves every claim.

Questions

Questions about Dental & Private Clinics.

How is AI used in dentistry?

In two broad ways. Clinical AI reads radiographs and scans to flag possible caries, bone loss or lesions, and helps design restorations; these are regulated medical devices used by the dentist. Administrative AI answers calls, books appointments, runs recall, explains treatment plans and prepares insurance claims. We build the administrative side, integrated with the practice management system, and leave clinical tools to their regulated makers.

Will AI replace dental hygienists or receptionists?

Not hygienists: their work is hands-on clinical care and patient judgement. Reception work changes more. An AI dental receptionist can take overflow calls, after-hours bookings and reminder traffic, which leaves the front desk with the patients in the building and the conversations that need a person, such as a nervous patient, a complaint or a payment plan. We design for that split rather than for an empty desk.

Is patient data safe with a dental AI system?

Health data is special-category data under GDPR Article 9, so the architecture matters. The practice management system stays the record, the AI reads only what a task needs, models run where they are not trained on your data, and every action is logged. In the US the practice remains the HIPAA covered entity and signs its own business associate agreements; we hold no certifications and do not claim compliance on your behalf.

Does it work with Dentrix, Open Dental or Dentally?

Integration with the practice management system is a requirement, not an extra. Availability, recall dates, treatment plans and patient details live there, and the AI writes bookings and notes back. The available interfaces differ by system and version, so we confirm the integration route for your PMS in the first call, and that sets the realistic timeline.

Can this work for a private clinic that is not a dental practice?

Yes. Physiotherapy, dermatology, aesthetics, optometry and other private clinics have the same front-desk shape: bookings, reminders, explaining a plan and dealing with insurers. The integration changes, with systems such as Cliniko or Jane in place of a dental PMS, and so do the clinic rules. The boundary does not: anything clinical goes to a clinician.
