Dental & Private Clinics

The plan,
explained at home.

Dental patient education works when it is about this patient's plan. These explainers take the treatment plan a dentist has written and signed, and turn it into plain language a patient can reread at home, without adding anything the dentist did not say.

Why plans stall

Treatment plan acceptance depends on whether the patient understood what was proposed. The explanation usually happens once, in the chair, and leaves with the patient as a list of codes and an estimate. Questions come later, at home, when nobody is available to answer them, and an unanswered question tends to become a deferred plan.

Generic patient education leaflets and models help with the concept, such as what an implant or a root canal involves. They do not explain why this patient was offered a crown instead of a filling, what the alternatives discussed were, or what the estimate covers. That has to come from the plan itself.

So the explainer is generated from the signed plan and the clinician's notes, reviewed against a library of approved explanations the practice owns, and sent with the estimate. It explains; it does not recommend.

What it produces

01

A plain-language summary

Each item in the plan, what it involves, how many visits and what to expect, written from the dentist's notes in the patient's language.
02

Options and costs, as presented

The alternatives the dentist discussed and the estimate from the PMS, with what insurance or a payment plan is expected to cover marked as an estimate.
03

Questions answered from the plan

A patient can ask follow-up questions; answers come only from the plan and the approved library, with the source shown.
04

Not: clinical opinion

It never suggests a different treatment, comments on whether a plan is necessary, or answers a clinical question the plan does not cover. Those go back to the dentist.

How it stays accurate

  • Built from the signed plan only.

Nothing is drafted until the dentist has finalised the plan, and every sentence traces to the plan, the notes or an explanation the practice approved.
  • The practice owns the library.

Explanations of each procedure are written or approved by your clinicians once, then reused, so the language a patient reads is your practice's.
  • Consent stays a conversation.

Informed consent is the dentist's responsibility and happens with the dentist. The explainer supports that conversation; it is not a substitute for it.
Questions

Questions about Treatment Plan Explainers.

How does AI improve dental treatment plan presentation?

It extends the presentation beyond the chair. The dentist presents the plan as usual; the system then produces a written, plain-language version of the same plan with the options and estimate, and answers follow-up questions from it at home. It does not change what was recommended. The aim is a patient who understood the plan, which is the honest route to acceptance.

Is this the same as AI radiograph overlays shown to patients?

No. Colour-coded radiograph overlays come from clinical AI products that are regulated medical devices. Our explainers work from the treatment plan and notes the dentist has written and do not interpret images. A practice can use both; the explainer would describe what the dentist concluded, not what software detected.

Can patients ask it questions?

Yes, within the plan. Questions about what a procedure involves, how many visits it takes or what the estimate includes are answered from the plan and the approved library, with the source shown. Questions about whether they need the treatment, alternatives not discussed, symptoms or medication are passed to the dentist.
