Sports AI,
the coach still calls it.

Analysis for staff. Decisions by staff.

In context

AI in sports means applying models to the data a club already has, such as tracking, event and video data, membership and ticketing records, and fan interactions, to save staff time and inform decisions that coaches, medical staff and managers still make.

Where it breaks today

01

Data in five systems, insight in none

GPS vests, event data, video, wellness forms and medical notes each live in their own platform. Analysts spend the week exporting spreadsheets instead of answering the coach’s question.
02

Volunteers run the club

Below the elite level, memberships, fixtures, kit orders and safeguarding paperwork run on a few overstretched volunteers and a shared inbox.
03

Fans are data you cannot use

Ticketing, shop, app and social each hold a slice of the supporter, and marketing consent is often unclear, so personalisation is either absent or a GDPR risk.
OUR APPROACH

How AI is used in sports, without taking the decision away

The headline uses of AI in sports, such as computer-vision tracking, semi-automated offside and tactical models, are built by leagues and large vendors. Most clubs already buy that data from providers like Opta, StatsBomb, Second Spectrum or Catapult. What they lack is the layer that joins it to their own video, wellness and medical records and answers a staff member’s question in plain language. That layer is what we build.

Athlete health and biometric data is special-category data under GDPR Article 9, and wellness and injury records deserve the same care as a clinic’s. We keep it inside infrastructure the club controls, restrict it by role, and never use it to train a model. Injury-risk flags are prompts for medical staff to look, not predictions to act on, and selection is never automated.

For the business side of the club, the work is ordinary operations automation done carefully: memberships, renewals, fixtures and the enquiries that come with them, connected to the systems you already run.

HOW IT DEPLOYS
PHASE 01

Start with one question

A question a coach, analyst or commercial lead asks every week, and the systems that hold the answer.
PHASE 02

Join the data, protect it

Provider feeds, video and club records joined in a store the club controls, with medical data separated and access scoped by role.
PHASE 03

Staff test it

Answers checked against the analysts’ own work before anyone relies on them; every chart and number links back to its source data.

Questions

Questions about Sports & Fitness.

How is AI used in sports?

On the field, computer vision tracks players and the ball, wearables measure load, and models help analysts read tactics and spot fatigue. Off the field, AI supports officiating tools, automated broadcast cameras, scouting, ticketing and fan services. For most clubs, the practical gain is joining the data they already buy and collect so staff can ask questions of it, while coaches and medical staff keep the decisions.

Can AI predict sports injuries?

Not reliably enough to act on alone. Models can flag patterns in load, wellness and movement data that are associated with higher injury risk, which is a useful prompt for medical and performance staff to look closer. They cannot account for everything a physio sees, and treating a flag as a prediction would be a mistake. We build flags with their reasons shown, and the decision stays with staff.

Is athlete data protected under GDPR?

Yes. Health, injury and biometric data about athletes is special-category data under GDPR Article 9, which needs a specific lawful basis and stronger safeguards. We keep it on infrastructure the club controls, separated from performance and commercial data, with access by role and every read logged. Whether your lawful basis and safeguards are sufficient is your data-protection officer’s determination.

Do you build AI for sports betting?

No. We do not build betting prediction or tipping products. Our sports work is for clubs, leagues, federations and fitness operators: operations, performance analysis for staff, and supporter engagement.

Does it work with our existing data providers?

It should, because that data is what you have paid for. We integrate with the event, tracking and video sources you already license, such as Opta, StatsBomb, Hudl or Catapult exports, within the terms of those licences, and join them to your own records rather than replacing any platform.
