Since 8 December 2023, wine produced for sale in the EU must declare its ingredients and a nutrition declaration, under the amendments made by Regulation (EU) 2021/2117. The energy value and allergens must be on the physical label; the rest may be provided through an e-label reached by QR code. That sits alongside the existing wine labelling rules in Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/33 and, for spirits, Regulation (EU) 2019/787.
Exports add more. The US requires a Certificate of Label Approval from the TTB under 27 CFR Part 4 for wine and Part 5 for spirits, with its own rules on alcohol statements, sulphite declarations and the importer's details. Other markets have their own language, health-warning and back-label requirements. A producer exporting to several markets keeps several versions of every label, and each version has to stay consistent with the technical sheet, the lab analysis and the shipping documents.
