Grok is built by SpaceXAI, the company formerly called xAI and now part of SpaceX. Its current models are available by API only, so the evaluation is about quality, price and the provider's terms rather than hosting.

SpaceXAI ships these models as a range rather than one lead model, so this page is about the family: what it is good at, where it runs and how we evaluate it.
Last reviewed on 30 October 2026. We check the public model catalogues every week; when a new release appears, we review it against the provider's announcement and update this page.
What SpaceXAI has shipped most recently. Each has its own page with specifications, independent ratings at every reasoning setting and listed prices.

Intelligence and coding: Artificial Analysis indices at the model's best reasoning setting, and its measured output speed. Context and prices: the OpenRouter catalogue list price in USD per million tokens. Released: the provider's date where Artificial Analysis records one, otherwise the date the catalogue first listed it. Refreshed weekly; not measured by QQuantum.ai. Select a heading to sort.
Provider-published specifications as of 30 October 2026, not figures we measured. Model families move quickly — check the provider's own documentation before committing to a number.

This family's highest-rated models, highlighted, against the best-rated model of each other family we cover. One composite score cannot show cost, latency, data residency or how a model handles your task.

The company has changed name and ownership within a year, so confirm which entity your contract, data-processing terms and support arrangements are with before production use. For European work, check where requests are processed and how long they are retained.
Where data may not leave your infrastructure, a closed API is out and the decision moves to open-weight models. Where it may, keep Grok behind the same model interface as your other providers, so switching is an evaluation run rather than a rewrite.
Yes. SpaceX acquired xAI in early 2026 and the company now operates as SpaceXAI. The Grok model name did not change; the public model catalogues list it under SpaceXAI.
Not the current models: they are offered by API only. Older releases with published weights are far behind today's frontier and are rarely a sensible production choice.
Run the same representative tasks on each candidate and compare accepted results, latency and total cost. The ratings above help build the shortlist; your own evaluation decides.

yourOS is an operating system with an AI at its heart. You talk to it like a person, out loud or typed. It makes your calls, plans your days and works on your projects with a crew of agents, on your own private server. Our own product, built from the first commit; the waitlist is open.
